Sealability

- TEG
Sealability refers to properties that prevent liquids and gases from leaking to the outside of a machine or device or that prevent foreign substances from entering inside.
TEG expands when exposed to heat. It can easily be processed into a sheet form without the use of a binder.
Being 100% carbon, the sheet has excellent heat-resistant, chemical-resistant, and airtight properties and is very sealable.
Because of these features, TEG-based sheets are extensively used in automobiles and chemical plants.
Molded products made from combustible materials such as resins or rubber with TEG added can prevent fire spread as the TEG expands to smother the fire as it starts.
Because of its excellent flameproof properties and sealability, TEG is mainly used in construction.
Usually, TEG is hidden within other materials but exhibits its excellent sealability in the event of an emergency.
With excellent sealability, thermally expandable graphite (TEG) has many different applications.
Seal components are parts or materials in a machine or a device that prevent the leakage of liquids and gases to the outside and prevent rainwater, dust and other substances from entering inside.
Seals use many different materials. The quality and shape of the materials depend on the shape of the parts that must be sealed and the environment they are used in.
One seal material is high-sealability TEG.
The performance that is required of a seal varies widely, dependent on the condition of its use. For example, seals are expected to:
Prevent the permeation of fluids even in high-pressure or high-temperature conditions
Be flexible and elastic enough to adhere to adjacent components
Be stable enough to not significantly deform, distort, or otherwise deteriorate or damage equipment while in use.
Gaskets (automobile engines)
Packing (pipes in chemical plants)
Seal parts are intended to prevent liquids and gases from leaking to the outside of a machine or a device, and are thus expected to be airtight and resistant to extreme temperatures, pressures and chemicals.
Construction components (fire prevention sections such as plumbing pipes and window sashes)
The Building Standards Act requires components that prevent the spread of fires to be placed in certain areas (fire prevention areas) on the assumption that a fire will occur.
The seal performance of expanding TEG for blocking flame is compliant with the Building Standards Act, which leads TEG to be extensively used in construction components.
Water supply and drainage pipes have conventionally been metallic. In recent years, TEG-based resin pipes have been an increasing share of the market as their workability is favorable due to their weight reduction and because they are lower cost.
They can be changed to some extent.

It is a dark gray powder. We are able to provide a sample. If you would like to pick it up in your hands and see it up close, contact our sales representative.
Basically, TEG will not deteriorate. But we recommend that you use it within the first six months.
